Nasty Shadows holds play auditions
Nasty Shadows Theatre Co. is seeking actors for its upcoming Spring production.
The play to be staged will be decided based upon the availability and meshing of the actors. For those not familiar with the Company and to give prospective actors an idea — in the past, Nasty Shadows has staged plays by Samuel Beckett (Endgame, Waiting For Godot), Edward Albee (The Zoo Story), Tom Stoppard (Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead), Harold Pinter (A Slight Ache, The Dumb Waiter), and Daniel MacIvor (This Is A Play, House).
While some of the above plays relied on very small casts, Nasty Shadows hopes to stage an ensemble piece comparable in spirit to their staging of Robert Moore’s Rougher Magic (a tweaking of The Tempest), which found a cast of seven sharing quite evenly in the telling of a story. We are hoping to stage a play that would use roughly 6-11 actors.
Rehearsals will begin Feb. 17th, taking a break the first week of March, and then resuming until the staging of the play on May 13th-16th. For approximately the first 5 weeks the rehearsal schedule will be light and then move into a heavier schedule for the weeks leading up to opening.
We are looking for actors of any age or gender. Experience is certainly an asset, but not required. Actors are asked to prepare a monologue/story if possible, but/and will also be asked to read/perform some scenes/monologues provided at the auditions.
Auditions will be held in D’Avary Hall (Education building, UNB Campus):
Feb. 5th (Thurs) @ 7-9pm in room #321
Feb. 6th (Fri) @ 7-9pm in room #334-1
Feb 7th (Sat) @ 1-3pm in room #334-1
We look forward to seeing you at the auditions!
